Due to increased energy expenses, Alaskans can get up to $3284 in benefits in 2024, which will help them get through the hard winter that lies ahead.

The two-part stimulus cheques will be disbursed by the Alaska Department of Revenue with the goal of assisting locals in managing their finances appropriately so they can withstand frigid weather, which can fall as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Permanent Fund Dividend, which is a portion of the $2634 in profits from the sale of Alaska’s natural resources sent to citizens, will come first. The remaining $650 will be covered by the Energy Relief Payment.

In contrast to the PFD, which is given out annually and can be reclaimed by eligible Alaskans in 2025, the Energy Relief stimulus is a one-time payment that won’t be repeated the following year.

What makes you eligible?

Residents of Alaska and those with a valid Social Security number are eligible. In addition, claimants need to have timely tax filings and no criminal history. Individuals with disabilities or those over 65 are also eligible for the benefits.

When is the $3284 stimulus going to be paid?

For individuals who may be experiencing a more difficult fall than normal or who live in low-income households, the good news is that the Alaska Department of Revenue started distributing the benefits on October 3.

As of September 20, the “eligible not-paid” status, which is the basis for payments, had to have existed for October 3. The next payment round, which is for those who were in “eligible not-paid” status from September 21 to October 14, has not yet been announced.

You can check your status by going to the www.pfd.alaska.gov site. You can also contact the Alaska Department of Revenue directly by phone, mail, or email.
