Six children from Florida were admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after consuming candy that had been combined with an unidentified substance, as reported by officials.

NBC Miami stated that law enforcement visited the Boys & Girls Club in Lauderhill on three occasions, spanning from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All of the kids were taken to Broward Health and Florida Medical Center, where their conditions were reported to be stable.

There is still no information available regarding the specific component that was added to the candy.

The Boys & Girls Club of Broward County issued a statement on Wednesday evening, acknowledging the incident and noting that their staff promptly reached out to local authorities.

“The safety and protection of the young people we serve is always our absolute highest priority, and we take any situation that might impact their well-being very seriously,” the club said in a statement. “Our commitment to our Club youth, their families, and our community is unwavering.”
