Orlando Resident Faces Attempted Murder Charges in Roadway Shooting

An Orlando man was taken into custody on Wednesday for a shooting incident earlier this summer involving his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, as per the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an official statement, on July 22, deputies responded to a report of an altercation near a 7-Eleven convenience store on East Colonial Drive.

When they arrived, they encountered a man who recounted that he was driving when his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, identified as Hashemi Vazquez, 33, pulled up beside him and brandished a firearm.

Investigators state that Vazquez proceeded to fire multiple shots at the man’s vehicle, causing the man to hastily drive away while Vazquez made his escape in the opposite direction.

The man also informed deputies that Vazquez had been following him at his workplace two weeks before the shooting, leading them to suspect that the incident was premeditated, as per the official statement.

Vazquez was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon.

He is now facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and criminal mischief
