80-Year-Old Diabetic Woman with Dementia Goes Missing in Decatur

Rosa Mae Dawson, have you seen her? Help is needed by the DeKalb County police to find the 80-year-old woman who vanished a few days ago.

Dawson hasn’t been seen since Wednesday, according to her family. To the best of their knowledge, she vanished in the Decatur neighborhood of Jenay Court while sporting a pair of pink pajamas and black sneakers.

“Time is not our friend and we do want to get her back. It’s so imperative that a Mattie’s Call goes out as soon as possible,” Wanda Dunham, Dawson’s goddaughter stated. “We are really losing daylight. We want to get her back as soon as possible.”

According to DeKalb County police, on the day she vanished, they sent out a Mattie’s Call, Georgia’s emergency missing warning for elderly or disabled people.

In the meantime, the family has been handing out flyers and hanging them around Candler Road in the hopes that someone might know where she might be.

According to her son Ricky, Dawson is in the early stages of dementia.

“She’s also diabetic. So we need to get her her medication, since she hasn’t had it in a couple of days,” Ricky stated.

Dawson weighs 140 pounds, stands 5 feet 1 inch tall, and has black hair and brown eyes.

“She is loved, she is missed, and we want to get her back to her family,” Dunham stated.
