Late on Sunday, the peace of Colyer Street was shattered by gunfire, leading to the injury of an innocent passerby, as reported by the Orlando Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight, around 1 a.m., when two individuals, for reasons still unknown, engaged in a gunfight.

In the midst of the chaos, a stray bullet struck an uninvolved bystander. Thankfully, although the victim’s injuries were sudden and startling, they are not expected to be life-threatening.

The individual was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

This occurrence contributes to a concerning trend of shooting-related incidents in Orlando. Just ten days prior, the Jernigan Gardens Apartments witnessed its third shooting in a short period, underscoring the unease felt by local residents.

The Orlando Police Department is leaving no stone unturned in their investigation of the Colyer Street incident. At present, no arrests have been made, but authorities are urging residents to step forward with any information they may possess.

The goal is that, with the support of the community, those responsible can be swiftly brought to justice and the recent surge in violence can be quelled.

This incident stands as a solemn reminder of the unpredictability of stray bullets. Orlando residents are advised to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and prioritize personal safety during these challenging times.
