Man Charged with Fentanyl Distribution Resulting in Death in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH, Fla. — A man has been imprisoned, accused of selling a lethal dose of fentanyl to another man in Vero Beach.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Keyon Lewis, aged 26, allegedly distributed fentanyl to a man in the parking lot of an Applebee’s restaurant on November 5, 2021.

Afterward, the man’s wife discovered him lifeless on the kitchen floor of their residence.

Law enforcement authorities used the victim’s cellphone to set up an undercover operation and ordered more fentanyl from Lewis. Unaware of the sting, Lewis delivered more fentanyl to the home.

Upon his arrival on November 7, 2021, deputies from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office promptly apprehended Lewis.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office charged Lewis with the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death, as well as possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl.

On Monday, following a federal grand jury’s indictment on July 13, Lewis was taken into custody.
