Two men were found dead in what the police are treating as murder cases following a shooting incident on Dade Street on Tuesday night.
The two victims sustained gunshot wounds in the 1100 block of Dade Street, close to the Lawrence-Gregory Community Center, shortly before 9:30 p.m., as reported by the Tallahassee Police Department. Unfortunately, one of the men passed away at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital, according to TPD.
This shooting occurred in proximity to Florida State University, near the Frenchtown area, which is situated in the heart of the capital city.
TPD public information officer Alicia Turner stated that, “This remains an open and active investigation and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
As of now, no arrests have been made, but TPD is actively pursuing leads. There is no available description of any suspects at this time, according to TPD.
As of 11 p.m., the scene remains active with a significant police presence. The recreation center has been cordoned off with police tape, and numerous evidence markers can be seen in the parking lot in front of the building.
Many of these markers are concentrated around a silver sedan parked near the intersection of Dade Street and Griffin Street, which had its doors open. Investigators are examining this vehicle using flashlights.
Further down Dade Street, hidden from view of the first vehicle, officers are also investigating a dark-colored sedan with open doors. This second vehicle is located near the intersection of Brewer Street and Dade Street.
