Biden Dominates South Carolina Democratic Primary With Impressive 96% Victory

On Saturday, President Joe Biden secured a decisive victory in the Democratic primary in South Carolina, garnering over 96% of the votes for the party’s presidential nomination.

With all counties reporting, Biden received 126,321 votes, while Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips trailed behind with 2,726 and 2,239 votes, respectively, according to unofficial results from the South Carolina Election Commission. The state’s Republican primary is scheduled for February 24.

The outcome of the South Carolina primary suggests that Biden continues to enjoy support from Black voters, despite facing pressure from Black pastors to advocate for a cease-fire in Gaza.

“In 2020, it was the voters of South Carolina who proved the pundits wrong, breathed new life into our campaign, and set us on the path to winning the Presidency,” Biden stated in a statement.

“Now in 2024, the people of South Carolina have spoken again and I have no doubt that you have set us on the path to winning the Presidency again — and making Donald Trump a loser — again.”

Biden kept criticizing Trump, saying he’s leading a chorus of “dangerous voices” that want to split the nation and take it backward.

Congressman from Minnesota Phillips praised incumbent Joe Biden, noting that he would not be giving up on his unlikely presidential bid despite the overwhelming number of votes he received.

“Cracking four digits never felt so good! Congratulations, Mr. President, on a good old-fashioned whooping,” Phillips wrote on social media. “See you in Michigan.”
