President Joe Biden responded to a Christmas post on Truth Social by Donald Trump, where the former president expressed a wish for his opponents to “rot in hell.”
The former president went on a rant about “Crooked Joe Biden,” “Deranged Jack Smith,” “World leaders, both good and bad,” and the “sick…THUGS” in the nation who are trying to “destroy our once great USA” while presumably wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
Shortly after lunch on December 25, he concluded the social media post with a joyous, all-caps statement, “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS! “
In reply to coverage of the post, President Biden, who is a practicing Catholic and attends church regularly, seized the chance to emphasize the significant differences in character between himself and his anticipated opponent in the 2024 election.
He tweeted: “There’s an expression they say in church sometimes: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
Mr. Trump’s holiday season appears to have been tumultuous and contentious based on his social media activity.
On Wednesday, while Mr. Biden was enjoying the New Year with his family on the Caribbean island of St. Croix, he offered a succinct response to comments made by Nikki Haley, Mr. Trump’s rival for the Republican Party nomination.

Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and ex-UN ambassador, faced widespread criticism for not attributing slavery as the cause of the American Civil War when asked about it at a campaign event.
In response to a tweet from his own campaign highlighting Haley’s remarks on government, capitalism, and freedom of speech, the president responded with a straightforward tweet: “It was about slavery.”

The GOP candidate has been attempting to backtrack on her initial response, suggesting that the question came from a Democratic Party supporter planted in the audience at the event in Berlin, New Hampshire.
This isn’t the first time Nikki Haley has faced controversy regarding her stance on Civil War history.
