Following President Joe Biden’s unexpected withdrawal from the 2024 contest, Democrats have just eclipsed one of Donald Trump’s highest single-day fundraising totals on Sunday.
ActBlue, an online platform for Democratic party donations, displayed on its website ticker by 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday that it has raised more than $14,053,000,000 since its establishment in 2004.
The group had stated earlier in the day that Biden’s declaration to withdraw from the race and support Vice President Kamala Harris caused the organization to receive over $14 billion in lifetime donations.
This indicates that in less than a day, Biden’s statement received significantly more money than Donald Trump’s campaign said it did the day following the former president’s historic felony conviction—$52.8 million.
In 2023, for example, Trump’s campaign needed six months to gather $58 million, according to federal data that The New York Times was able to access.
ActBlue is expected to break that record in less than twenty-four hours. Instead of responding to the Democratic Party’s fundraising figures, a Trump spokesman chose to bash Harris in an email sent to Business Insider.
The moment Biden announced he was withdrawing from the race, small donors, business owners, and Democratic leaders poured money into the party.

A few of those voices, such as Gov. Gavin Newsom and Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, backed Biden’s recommendation of Harris. Democrats earlier on Sunday broke the record for internet contributions when, in the few hours following Biden’s statement, they raised over $30 million. The Times claims that’s the biggest single-day donation the party has received since the election in 2020.
ActBlue claimed to have raised $10.8 million in donations in just four hours following Biden’s announcement of Harris as his running mate in 2020.
ActBlue reported in May 2022 that, in the months following the Supreme Court’s abortion decision leak in January, the organization had also raised $12 million.
