After being away for eight and a half months, 46 “Grandmasters” of the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron go home to Naval Air Station Jacksonville on April 22.
Since Aug. 10, 2022, the Grandmasters have been out in the field.
During their mission, the Grandmasters took part in a number of international drills and actions, such as Deterring Russian Aggression, Juniper Oak, Neptune Strike, and Mare Aperto.
They worked with friends and partners like Italy, France, Great Britain, Greece, Israel, Croatia, Albania, Spain, Algeria, and Turkey.
These drills improved relationships and made it easier for U.S. and partner country military forces to work together. They also helped improve high-end joint warfighting methods and tactics.
The Grandmasters call Jacksonville, Florida, home. The MH-60R’s advanced features allow the squadron to do anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, search and rescue, and logistical support tasks.
