Early on Monday morning, robbers broke into a famous Chicago neighborhood known for its hot dogs, Lincoln Park. At The Wieners Circle, 2622 N. Clark St., windows were broken.
According to the police, at least three persons burst through the business’s glass door at 3:45 a.m. Something big was taken by the suspects from inside, maybe an ATM or safe.
“Basically, it was a smash and grab,” Wieners Circle social media manager Ragen Eggert stated. “A car, a group of people, came and broke into The Wiener Circle at about 3:30 in the morning, smashed the window with a crowbar, and just came in and just stole our ATM.”
The suspects, according to the police, departed in a black SUV and headed south on Clark Street. A management of a restaurant claims that this is the second break-in in the last two weeks.
According to Eggert, last Sunday saw break-ins at the Wieners Circle as well as at Taiyaki Chicago, 2618 N. Clark St., and Molly’s Cupcakes, 2536 N. Clark St., two adjacent establishments.
A week ago Sunday, the robbers came into Wieners Circle, broke down the registers, and leaped a fence. However, Eggert added that they were unsuccessful in their first attempt to steal anything.
In either case, no one has been taken into custody. The police are looking into it. Eggert stated that The Wieners Circle must now board up its doors and windows.

“I mean, it is frustrating, but I mean, I feel like it’s been happening all over, and it’s like we kind of just—not like we expected it but like, we just, you know, it’s like a chain of reactions. We kind of just—it’s just is like whatever now in Chicago, you know?” Eggert stated. “Thank God nobody was here, thank God it was a time when we were closed, and, you know, nobody got hurt—and that’s all that really matters.”
In a humorous post on social media, The Wieners Circle said, “Note to all you hamburglars, we have hired a guy named Hakeem from Zumunda, come back and he will be forced to trash you with a mop handle if you come back.” They made light of the issue. That was obviously an allusion to the motion picture “Coming to America.”
