A Miami Gardens man was detained by police on Friday after detectives found that he had abused his girlfriend’s three-year-old son to the extent of liver damage.
Oscar Cedell Miller, 25, was the subject of an arrest report from the Miami Gardens Police Department. It states that the inquiry started in late May when the boy’s mother took him to a hospital in Fort Myers.
The boy “began to complain of stomach pain” before to the family’s May 25 journey to southwest Florida to see her parents, according to the police.
According to the arrest report, she “did not think anything more of it” since she assumed it was gas. Nevertheless, when they got to Fort Myers, the youngster kept complaining of stomach ache, so his mother went to the local children’s hospital to get treated.
“It was presumed the victim had gas pains or constipation issues, therefore, treatment for that began,” according to the report. “The victim continued to complain of pain, which prompted further testing on the victim’s abdominal area. Medical staff discovered the victim had lacerations on his liver, which was consistent with physical trauma to the area.”
The mother told officers that two days before, when she had left Oscar to babysit the kids, “the victim stated that he was scared and wanted to go with her when she arrived home on her lunch break.”
“At that time, she left the residence with all three kids. While in the car, she noticed bruising on the left side of the victim’s face,” according to the report. “(The mother) asked the victim what had happened and the victim replied that Oscar had struck him in the stomach with a closed fist.”

According to authorities, the little child claimed that Miller “stepped on my tummy with his foot” and that his “tummy needed medicine” during an interview on May 29 with personnel at the Children’s Advocacy Center of South Florida.
Miller “was being mean to him,” according to the youngster, according to the police.
Miller told officers that the 3-year-old “pooped on the floor and to discipline him, he began yelling at him, but never hit the child,” according to the authorities, who met with Miller on Friday.
According to the story, he moved out the next day, saying his partner was “upset” that he had yelled at the kids. Miller was freed from custody on a $10,000 bond, according to Miami-Dade court records.
