A 68-year-old man was killed in a brawl between two drivers at a parking lot in the Los Angeles region.
Just before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a “minor traffic collision” involving two individuals in a West Hollywood convenience store parking lot, according to a department news release.
Armando Gabriel, 68, was found unconscious on the pavement when deputies arrived on the scene. After being brought to a nearby hospital, he passed away there.
After the collision, deputies found out that Gabriel and another man, 48-year-old Ramon Casas, got into a confrontation that turned physical. Gabriel was attacked by Casas, who left him unconscious, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bystander Sean Harrison told KTLA-TV that he was at a nearby Mexican restaurant getting something to eat when the fight broke out. Harrison claimed to have witnessed Casas, who was bigger than Gabriel, land the opening blow.
“Just cold-cocked this guy in the face … but it didn’t look like it was a punch that would kill someone,” Harrison stated. “Just one punch. You never know and that’s why I’m like, ‘(Expletive), I’m going to keep my mouth shut.”
