On Thursday, charges were brought against a Delaware man who is suspected of tricking individuals into paying down payments for home renovation projects he didn’t intend to complete.
Investigators said that an 81-year-old woman stated that she provided a $250 down payment for a home remodeling project, but that Perren Davis, 61, never came back to finish the work. As a result, Davis was arrested.
Police on Thursday discovered Davis driving a beige Dodge Dakota pickup truck and took him into arrest.
Davis is a person that they say they knew from multiple previous investigations. According to reports, he was the subject of nine active warrants for home repair fraud that date back to February 2022.
He allegedly defrauded at least eight victims, ranging in age from 81 to 40, out of thousands of dollars by taking money for unfinished home improvement work.
Police claim that in one instance in May 2022, Davis took $1,690 from a 62-year-old for unfulfilled home repair payments.
Police in October 2022 claim that Davis received over $250 for driveway sealing from two women who live on the same block in Newark.
