A Miami man was taken into custody on Monday after authorities claimed he was suspected of raping a lady close to an Aventura public library.
Authorities say the incident happened close to the Northeast Dade – Aventura Branch Library, which is situated at 2930 NE 199th St.
According to an arrest record made public on Tuesday, a 911 caller claimed to have seen Emmanuel Palmier, 56, who was reportedly involved in the rape, at a bus depot close to the 19500 block of Biscayne Boulevard at approximately five in the morning.
According to the complaint, the woman informed police that she urged the man to “stop and get off of her” several times while she was being raped.
Shortly after the incident, according to Aventura police, Palmier boarded a bus, which they were able to locate at 18615 W. Dixie Hwy. According to the report, the bus was stopped, and Palmier was taken into custody without any problems.
Investigators said that once Palmier, a French national, was taken to the Aventura Police Department, the victim positively identified him as the person who had sexually assaulted her.
Palmier was read his Miranda rights, according to the police, and he consented to talk with detectives.
Detectives claimed he made a confession during the questioning, but it was withheld from the public report. Authorities verified that there was probable cause to arrest Palmier based on the statements made and the evidence gathered in the case.

Palmier is charged with one count of sexual battery on a victim who is physically helpless, according to jail records. His bond is still pending at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he was being held as of Tuesday.
