Five individuals were arrested after Kentucky police discovered a toddler child in a cage inside a house. In a Facebook post, the Carrolton Police Department stated that they had been called to a residence in the 700 block of 7th Street over a probable case of child abuse.

Police were investigating a possible case of a youngster “being held in a caged area” after receiving a previous report from the community. Officers discovered a naked boy under three behind a “wooden and metal enclosure that was secured with a padlock” when they arrived.

After obtaining a warrant to conduct a more thorough search of the house, police took two children away and placed them in the custody of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Five people were taken into custody on suspicion of wanton endangerment and first-degree child abuse.

Brenda Chilton, 71, Shelby Turocy, 28, of Ghent, William Mahoney, 72, Codey Johnson, 29, Tammy Simmons, 52, and Carrolton are the suspects. Turocy is also accused of possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine.

How the individuals arrested were connected to the boy was not mentioned in the press announcement. Furthermore, it’s unclear if the youngster required any medical care.
