On Wednesday night, Arlington County and the whole District of Columbia were placed under a boil water advisory. Reagan National Airport, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Pentagon are also impacted.
Increased cloudiness, or technically speaking turbidity, was observed by the Army Corps of Engineers in water extracted from the Washington aqueduct, which supplies water to Arlington County and the District of Columbia.
According to the water authority, turbidity may serve as a growing substrate for microorganisms and may be an indicator of the existence of organisms that cause sickness.
Residents who will be impacted should boil any water they plan to drink or consume as a precaution. According to DC Water, cold water should run for two minutes before coming to a boil.
Furthermore, DC Water has instructed locals to throw away any drinks and ice that was created after Wednesday night at 9 p.m.

It is possible to use bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking, producing ice, cleaning fruits and vegetables, making baby formula, hand washing dishes, and giving pets water.
Water treatment needs to be modified to accommodate for any possible pollution, according to DC Water, because of the increased cloudiness.
Testing will be conducted before the advisory is lifted to ensure the water is safe to drink.
