A stolen vehicle crashed into a convenience store in the Englewood area early on Sunday, leading to the arrest of two youths.

Before the two 15-year-old boys rammed their vehicle into the front of a store near 75th Street and Vincennes Avenue shortly after midnight, a police source claimed that a chase of the stolen vehicle was in progress.

The entire vehicle found its way into the convenience shop Aladdin’s Food. Outside the business, Chicago police officers and Illinois State Police were spotted.

A streetlight was knocked down and debris from the collision was scattered over the street. Following the collision, the two boys were brought away by police in handcuffs.

According to Anthony Washington, who came out before the cops arrived, he lives a block away from the convenience shop.

“I just heard a big boom,” he stated. “I left. I was scared, because I thought somebody was really, really hurt. So I panicked and I left, but I came back down here like about 12:30. I guess the ambulance had got the people who was in there or they got caught by the police.”

The automobile stayed in the store for hours after the collision. The car cannot be removed until a representative from the city’s Department of Buildings can come out and do an inspection, according to an on-scene officer.

The building seemed to have structural damage, according to police dispatch radio recordings.

A kid was accused of having a stolen automobile in their hands. A misdemeanor criminal trespass to a vehicle charge was brought against the other.

Though they were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, neither of the teenagers was hurt.
