After a domestic abuse incident turned into a blockaded confrontation at a Piedmont house, a Florida man is currently incarcerated.
According to the Piedmont authorities Department, a woman and her children were allegedly in need of assistance when authorities were called to a residence at 122 Taylor Street on the evening of April 1.
Officers arrived to find four children sobbing and shouting inside the house. When cops tried to open the door, the man inside resisted.
The man—later identified as Orlando resident Nicholas Lynn, 41—refused to cooperate with authorities’ attempts to unlock the door and instead responded by turning up the volume on his music until they were unable to hear what was happening inside.
It was discovered that Lynn had outstanding warrants from various agencies for allegations of domestic abuse against the woman who lived with him.
After Lynn locked herself inside the house, Piedmont Detectives and the Special Response Team of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office were contacted to help.
Once “limited communication” was established, Lynn informed law police that he was detaining the mother and her children in a dark bedroom and that they were not permitted to leave.
Officers lost contact and tried to break down the door, but Lynn kicked it shut right away. Lynn ran deep into the house before the cops could follow her, allowing them to rescue the woman and her kids.
Officers swiftly established that Lynn was now beneath the house after finding a missing vent in the floor while emptying the residence. Police eventually succeeded in getting him to climb out and give up after numerous futile efforts.
Lynn faces charges of attempted kidnapping and second-degree DV burglary. He is being detained pending a hearing at the Calhoun County Court on a fugitive from justice warrant.
