The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, announced on Sunday that his state will launch a different inquiry into the manner in which a second gunman managed to approach former President Trump within 500 yards.
At Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, the former president was enjoying a round of golf when Ryan Wesley Routh, who was purportedly carrying a weapon, was shot by the US Secret Service.
According to the authorities, Routh was carrying two backpacks and a GoPro camera when he reportedly forced the rifle’s muzzle through a chain-link fence between 300 and 500 yards from the former president.
As soon as they noticed Routh lifting the gun, the agents opened fire. Routh then escaped in a black Nissan, but authorities claimed that he was swiftly captured.
Shots were fired when Trump was on his fifth hole, causing his protective team to swarm him and lead him to the clubhouse for safety. This is the second attempt on Trump’s life in a span of barely two months.
DeSantis declared that Florida will launch its own inquiry to learn more about what transpired at Trump International Golf Club as additional details emerge about what appears to be an attempt on Trump’s life.
“The people deserve the truth about the would-be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee,” DeSantis stated on X.
This is the second occasion in the last sixty-four days that a shooter has been successful in getting a gun in close range of the president.
Thomas Matthew Crooks fired from the roof of a building approximately 150 yards from the stage at a Trump event in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
Eight shots were fired by Crooks, and one of them struck Trump’s ear. Even death or severe brain injury might have come from a small shift to the left or right.

Bipartisan lawmakers Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and Jason Crow, D-Colo., are leading the probe into how Crooks was able to access the top of an unmanned structure when it was in close proximity to Trump.
In a statement released on Sunday, the two legislators said they wanted to be briefed by the US Secret Service on the circumstances behind the plot to kill Trump again, this time in West Palm Beach.
“We are thankful that the former President was not harmed but remain deeply concerned about political violence and condemn it in all of its forms,” the two stated.
