Florida Woman Wins $2 Million in Lottery the Day After Daughter's Cancer Treatment.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Lottery says that a woman from Florida won $2 million in a scratch-off lottery game the day after her daughter finished treatment for breast cancer.

Geraldine Gimblet told the lottery that she got her $2 million Bonus Cashword game winning ticket at a gas station in Lakeland. She said that it was the gas station’s last scratch-off ticket.

“At first, the gas station worker thought there were no more tickets left, but I asked him to check again because I like the crossword games best. She said, “He found the last one.”

Gimblet went to the lottery headquarters on Friday with her daughter and granddaughter to claim her big win. The lottery says that her daughter began to cry when she told her what the win meant to her.

Gimblet’s daughter said, “I’m just so happy for her.” “The day before my mom bought this ticket, I had my last treatment for breast cancer. I rang the bell and walked out of the hospital.”

She said that Gimblet used her life savings to help take care of her while she was fighting cancer.

The lottery said that Gimblet decided to get her prize in one lump sum of $1,645,000.
