Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed four new members to the Florida Elections Commission

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the reappointment of John “Martin” Hayes to the Florida Elections Commission and the appointments of Chad Mizelle as Chair, Rick Joyce, and Kymberlee Curry Smith.

Chad Mizelle

Mizelle heads up Affinity Partners’ legal department. He is a current member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Thirteenth Circuit. In addition to his J.D. from Cornell, Mizelle holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.

Rick Joyce

Joyce runs Central Florida Mediators, LLC, as its president. Involved in the local community, he has taught as an adjunct professor at Rollins College and worked as a special magistrate in Lake and Alachua counties. The University of Delaware granted Joyce his bachelor’s degree, while St. Louis University conferred upon him his juris doctorate.

Kymberlee Curry Smith

Smith works as an attorney with the Code Enforcement Board in Fort Lauderdale. The City of North Miami had employed her as a contract attorney. Smith has a juris doctor from Boston College and a baccalaureate in business administration from Florida State University.

John “Martin” Hayes

Hayes is a member of Akerman LLP’s partnership. He is involved in the auto industry as both a full and associate member of the Florida Automobile Dealers Association and the National Association of Dealer Counsel. Hayes attended Florida State University, where he received both his bachelor’s and law degrees in political science.

All nominations are contingent upon Senate approval in Florida.
