A man in his twenties was fatally shot at a Pine Hills apartment complex on Thursday, as reported by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The incident originated from a call concerning a stolen car.
Upon reaching the Park Hamilton Apartments at 5956 Park Hamilton Blvd. around 4 p.m., deputies were flagged down by someone who informed them about the shooting.
The victim was swiftly transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. It remains uncertain whether the perpetrator responsible for the shooting has been apprehended.
Toni McWhorter who lives at the complex stated that, “Now you have to be careful when you walk to your car, watch your back, make sure there’s nothing going on, make sure the kids are okay.
After learning about the latest shooting, McWhorter expressed her readiness to relocate.
On Thursday night, as law enforcement surrounded the neighborhood, numerous residents were queued up, compelled to stand in the street for hours, unable to proceed beyond the police tape.
“It’s kind of frustrating, because I’m supposed to be working right now,” Jinette Oscar. “I work from home, so sitting out here is killing my time and taking away from my money, but I can understand with the circumstances of what’s happening. That takes priority obviously, because someone’s life is on the line.”
“Very frustrating,” McWhorter said. “Long day at work, kids are acting crazy at school, and I’ve got to sit here an hour and a half while they do their investigation. I’m past done.”
One more resident said that she heard approximately 20 gunshots and witnessed the victim before paramedics transported him to the hospital.
Deputies are urging anyone with information to contact Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 407-836-4357.
