It was around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday when a motorist evading Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies was shot following a foot pursuit through an Atlanta neighborhood.
Travon Yarborough, age 20, was identified as the driver by Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat.
Yarborough’s reason for drawing the attention of the FCSO Fugitive Apprehension Support Team was not immediately clear, but according to Sheriff Labat, the SUV was found to be stolen from Decatur.
He claims that after making an attempt to elude the deputies, the vehicle struck a pole close to the intersection of Harwell Road and Delmar Lane, which is located just east of Interstate 285.
“Our investigators attempted a traffic stop and at that point he jumped out, obviously wrecked behind us,” the sheriff stated.
During a press conference just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, the sheriff stated, “He brandished a weapon and was shot by one of our investigators.”
The sheriff claimed Yarborough was shot at least once and sent him to a local hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear if Yarborough fired rounds or aimed the gun at deputies. It is anticipated that he will heal.
The SUV also had a young woman who was brought to the hospital for observation. The shooting did not hurt any deputies.

Although a precise list of the allegations against Yarborough was not immediately available, it is anticipated that she would face numerous felonies.
The K-9 Unit of the Atlanta Police Department was called in to help with the evidence search. The inquiry and a gun, according to the sheriff, were turned over to the GBI.
This is the 42nd shooting investigation the GBI has conducted this year and the second shooting involving the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
