First Lady Casey DeSantis has made substantial contributions to community activities in Suwannee, Madison, and Columbia Counties through the Hope Florida Fund, showcasing a strong dedication to assisting families, veterans, and first responders. Each of the five charity organizations from these locations received a grant of $10,000.
Enhancing Community Assistance
The groups that will receive the donations are the Pregnancy Care Center, First Baptist Church of Live Oak, Love in the Name of Christ of Suwannee County, Christian Service Center of Columbia County, and Forgotten Coast K9.
These entities have vital functions within local communities, providing assistance to pregnant women, families, veterans, and first responders, among other groups.
“It was a pleasure to visit Suwannee County today to recognize and award Hope Florida funding to five nonprofits in the local community,”stated First Lady Casey DeSantis. She emphasized the pleasure of encountering delegates from these groups and the chance to further their efforts with supplementary financial resources.
Additionally, Florida has initiated an emergency assistance portal for American individuals who are currently stranded in Haiti.
The Hope Florida program, led by the First Lady in July 2022, seeks to close the disparity between the philanthropic donations of the corporate sector and the requirements of local charity groups.
This novel method of community assistance has received praise for revolutionizing the relationship between the government and its citizens, with a focus on cooperation with non-profit organizations and religious institutions throughout Florida.
Secretary Shevaun Harris of the Department of Children and Families commended the First Lady’s leadership, crediting the Hope Florida initiative for its role in enabling successful partnerships and bringing about positive changes in community support.
In addition, the initiative has expanded its scope to include Long Term Recovery Groups (LTRGs), who were granted $550,000 from the Florida Disaster Fund in January to support long-term recovery efforts for communities impacted by catastrophes.
