On Friday morning, a man was shot during a confrontation over a gun, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The altercation unfolded at a residence in the 14800 block of Bell Estates Road, north of Yellow Water Road and Normandy Boulevard. The dispute arose between two men, one in his mid-50s and the other in his late 30s, who were contending over a woman.
Amidst a physical struggle, the firearm discharged, resulting in the man in his 50s sustaining a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was promptly transported to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening, according to the police.
All parties involved in the incident were detained and subjected to questioning by detectives. Investigators are actively engaging with witnesses and scouring the vicinity for potential surveillance footage.
