Judge Questions Social Media Post in Trump Hush Money Case

The first legislator who supported the act was state senator Greg Reed (R-Jasper). According to him, parents now have the legal right to full disclosure and active participation in their children’s education.

Judge Juan Merchan sent a letter dated Friday stating, “Today, the Court became aware of a comment that was posted on the Unified Court System’s public Facebook page and which I now bring to your attention.”

“My cousin is a juror and said Trump is getting convicted,” as per the post. “Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!!”

“Now labeled as one week old,” the comment, according to Merchan, was credited to a user going by the name Michael Anderson. It was submitted in response to a regular court notice concerning oral arguments unrelated to proceedings in Trump’s case that was uploaded on May 29.

Under New York criminal procedure law, a defendant who has been found guilty by a jury but has not yet received a sentence may apply to have the conviction set aside if he learns of any misconduct on the part of the jury.

A fresh trial is the remedy available to a defendant who can demonstrate that jury misconduct “may have affected a substantial right of the defendant.”

When questioned about Merchan’s letter, a Trump campaign official replied, “We’re investigating.”

A request for comment on Friday afternoon was not immediately answered by a representative of the Manhattan district attorney’s office or by Trump’s attorneys.

Last month, Trump was found guilty on 34 charges of fabricating financial documents in order to reimburse Cohen for paying Daniels hush money during the closing weeks of the 2016 election.

In the case, Trump entered a not guilty plea and refuted Daniels’ allegations that they had a sexual encounter in 2006. July 11 is when Trump is expected to be sentenced in this case.
