Following a traffic stop, the man is said to have left the scene down an embankment, according to the police. The Ashley Borough Police Department reports that on July 31 at 1:12 a.m., officers stopped a black car on Mary Street.
Officers reported that the driver, Ashley resident Taquil Lishemel Baley, 24, had a strong marijuana odor coming from his automobile during the traffic encounter.
Because of the heavy stench, the police claim they offered to search the car; if he refused, they could take possession of it and get a search warrant. According to court records, Baley left the scene after requesting some time to consider his options.
After reaching a dead end on Manhattan Street while heading west, Baley got out of his car and fled into the woods, according to the police.
