Donations are being raised for those affected by the recent East Coast disasters by a San Luis Obispo-based moving firm.
“They have no homes, jobs, cars, family. It’s just sad,” local resident Rikki Anderson stated.
For anyone impacted by hurricanes Milton and Helene in and around Florida, Meathead Movers is holding a pop-up fundraising campaign. Anderson donated toothpaste, hand towels, and deodorant when he visited the Paso Robles pop-up store on Friday.
“I saw an article in the paper about how we can help hurricane victims so I decided I’m going to do that,” Anderson stated.
The relocation company is helping those who have suffered losses as a result of the catastrophes. In 1997, two brothers from San Luis Obispo launched the business. All six of Meathead Movers’ sites in California are taking part in the fundraising effort.
Nathan Blaney of Meathead Movers stated, “We saw the devastation of the hurricanes in Florida so when people need help, we are always the first to jump in and lean in to help.”
Convoy of Hope, a faith-based disaster relief group, is collaborating with the local business. New baby care and hygiene products are the most sought supplies.

“You have to just do your part and as a community, if we can join forces, we can make an impact,” Blaney stated.
Through this Sunday, donations can be made at Meathead Movers, located at 3600 South Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo. The hours of operation for Meathead Movers are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
