A Lyft trip turned alarming in North Miami when a driver reported that her passenger assaulted her and took the car she was operating.
The 33-year-old victim, who requested anonymity and communicated with 7News through a translator, stated that she was specifically targeted on a Thursday afternoon.
She said that, “He punched me here, in the arm and in the stomach.”
The driver mentioned that she arrived near the Griffing Community Center on Griffing Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m. to drop off her passenger.
According to radio communications, a first responder relayed the victim’s account of what occurred after she brought her white Toyota Corolla to a halt.
The first responder stated that, “The subject hit the complainant in the face, got in the vehicle and took off. Black male driver.”
The victim reported being struck multiple times before her assailant swiftly drove off in her Corolla.
“I was finishing a ride with a man that I picked up on Northwest Seventh and 95th,” she added. “The ride ended here. When we arrived to our destination, the passenger hit me here, in the arm. I struggled with him. He hit me in the stomach, and he took me out of the car. He turned off the car, and then he stole it.”
The North Miami Police swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate their inquiry and commence the search for the individual.
Regarding the victim, she revealed to 7News the bruises inflicted by the man, stating that she is experiencing pain and currently resides in a state of fear.
“Fearful. Lots of fear,” she said. “Women who drive for Lyft need to be very careful.”
