Florida Man Convicted of Murdering Wifae Over Reality TV Show Dispute

A man from Florida has been declared guilty by a jury for the brutal assault and strangulation of his wife in their Orlando residence.

This verdict comes after nearly five years since the tragic incident. David Tronnes, convicted of the murder of Shanti Cooper-Tronnes, was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The altercation stemmed from Shanti’s reluctance to participate in a home renovation reality program called “Zombie House Renovations.”

The couple had embarked on a renovation project that spiraled into a financial burden. Reports from WESH indicated that David had hopes of using the reality show as a means to salvage the project.

While Shanti’s friends conveyed her initial enthusiasm for the show, investigators suspected her growing discontent with the undertaking, leading her to contemplate leaving David.

WESH further noted that financial troubles were exacerbated by the renovation, compounded by Shanti’s absence from the property deed and her insistence on David taking action.

Shanti’s son, Jackson Cooper, mournfully stated, “She didn’t die peacefully, She did not deserve anything that happened to her that night.”

During Wednesday’s deliberations, a state prosecutor asserted that David’s motive for the murder stemmed from Shanti’s opposition to the reality show, characterizing it as an “That is an intent to kill.”

A family member stated about the emotions they are experiencing, “Exhilaration, and a little bit of peace. Something we haven’t had since 2018.”

According to WESH, David first stated that he discovered his wife unconscious in the bathtub, submerged and bleeding.

“It’s five years of struggle and pain lifted off of our shoulders,” Jackson said. “It feels good inside that he’s finally where he is and now that we can move on knowing that he’s where he’s supposed to be and where he’s meant to be.”

The family requested that the death penalty be dropped.

Following the verdict, a family member stated. “We’re going to wake up tomorrow a little brighter.”
