After being attacked without warning at Miami International Airport late on Saturday night, the woman is battling for her life in the hospital after being stabbed “multiple times” and nearly thrown over a balcony, according to authorities.

Officers in uniform were summoned to the International Arrivals area of Terminal J shortly after 11:30 p.m. in reference to a stabbing.

According to early Sunday morning reports from Miami-Dade Police, the woman was on the fourth level of the airport with a man named Alexander Love, 29, when he abruptly “attacked her by stabbing her multiple times and attempted to throw her over the railing.”

According to authorities, the woman managed to get away from Love and rushed downstairs to the third floor, where she was discovered.

On the fourth level, Love was apprehended by further responding officers who also found the knife. As of the time of publication, no charges were made public. After being called, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the critically ill woman to JMH Ryder Trauma Center.

According to a witness, there were other planes arriving at the time of the incident, and people were trying to aid the woman or fleeing the station.

“We heard the escalation of a fight,” the witness stated. “And somebody said ‘run!’ So, you literally had a line of 100 to 200 people easily because we had just come off the plane.”

Many witnesses to the attack expressed their surprise that it took place in such a busy area of the airport.

According to Miami-Dade Police Detective Angel Rodriguez, the airport evacuated Terminals J and H and momentarily stopped providing services in the area during the incident. However, normal activities have now resumed.

“There were people that were conducting business in the airport while this happened,” he stated. “And so, it’s expected that it can create some sort of chaos.”

In a statement on the event, MIA also stated on X that the situation at the terminal was now “under control.”

“We want to assure the public that the situation is under control and the safety of our passengers, staff, and visitors remains our top priority,” according to MIA. “Authorities responded immediately, and the situation was swiftly contained.”

Officers were also informed that there might be an active shooter on the premises, but after conducting additional research, they were able to rule that out.

Love stayed in detention and is still being questioned by detectives while the investigation is ongoing. The woman’s identity and more information on the stabbing have not been disclosed by the police.
