SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. – After a shooting incident that took place inside of Jorge Masvidal’s house in Southwest Miami-Dade County, the fighter’s father has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree. Jorge Masvidal is a native of Miami and was a previous star in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
On Thursday evening, Jorge Masvidal Sr., 67 years old, was taken into custody and placed into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Friday, as he was leaving prison, Masvidal Sr. denied that he had shot anybody.
Just after 3 o’clock on Thursday, both the Miami-Dade Police Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department arrived to the location of the incident, which was located around the 5800 block of Southwest 118th Avenue near 56th Street.
“The alleged shooter in this case also stated, along with the victim, that they were in a heated discussion that turned into an argument, and the argument escalated to the point where the shooter in this case shot the victim in this case,” said MDPD investigator Chris Thomas. “The argument escalated to the point where the shooter in this case shot the victim in this case,”
In addition to Fernandez, the responding paramedics discovered a male who had been shot at least twice, according to the detectives who worked the case.
According to the investigators, the victim, who has been named as Luis Leoncini and is 58 years old, was shot in both arms and was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in stable condition after the shooting.
Later, officers searched a kitchen cabinet and found the pistol that had been used in the shooting inside of it.
According to the authorities, Masvidal was not engaged in the event despite the fact that his name is on the property registration.
On June 2, it is anticipated that Masvidal Sr. would appear in court.
As Masvidal Sr. was leaving prison, he informed 7News that he plans to attend his son’s bare-knuckle battle on Friday night in Sunrise, which is where the Florida Panthers play their home games.
