Marvalyn Lee Chin, an experienced detective in the Miami police force with a commendable record of 19 years, is currently dealing with serious injuries resulting from a violent carjacking.
Despite her role in preventing violent crimes, Lee Chin found herself in a cruel twist of fate as carjacking suspect Andrewin Wardell collided with her unmarked police vehicle, pinning her between two cars, one of which was a stolen Nissan.
With the support of her fellow officers and the broader community, Lee Chin is now in the process of recovery at Jackson Memorial Hospital following her second surgery conducted on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses recall the gravity of the situation, highlighting Lee Chin’s urgent pleas for assistance. In a rapid response, members of the public stepped in, with some directly offering immediate aid at the scene, showcasing a strong solidarity with their local police force.
Meanwhile, Andrewin Wardell, the 49-year-old individual from Minneapolis suspected of the crime, is currently in custody and facing several charges, including felony murder, assaulting a law enforcement officer, and carjacking.
