Miami Man Arrested After Firing Shots into Home, Injuring Victim

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A man from Miami was arrested on Wednesday after he fired multiple rounds into a home, injuring a victim in the leg.

The incident, which occurred last month, was particularly concerning as there was an infant inside the home at the time of the shooting.

According to the arrest report from the North Miami Police Department, the victim was in bed with his girlfriend and baby around 10:30 p.m. on July 24 when Emanuel Guerrero-Zorrilla, aged 30, arrived at their front door with a gun in his hand. The victim, fearing the worst, refused to open the door.

Despite the refusal, Guerrero-Zorrilla proceeded to fire 15 shots at the victim, some of which penetrated through the window and front door of the home.

Tragically, the victim was hit by one of the bullets, sustaining a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was promptly taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue for medical attention.

The aftermath of the shooting revealed the extent of the damage, with the front window of the apartment riddled with 13 bullet holes, and the front door displaying two bullet holes.

After carrying out the shooting, Guerrero-Zorrilla fled the scene. However, he was eventually apprehended by the North Miami Police Department and taken into custody.

As of the latest update, Guerrero-Zorrilla was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He is facing charges of attempted felony murder causing injury with a firearm and criminal mischief, according to jail records.

The motive behind this disturbing act of violence remains unclear as the investigation continues.
