Mother Records 3-Year-Old Saying Farewell to Father, Then Commits Murder-Suicide

Just before shooting her 3-year-old son in a ditch and turning the pistol on herself, a Texas mother told her son to “say goodbye to Daddy” on camera.

The incident occurred one day before the mother was scheduled to appear in court for a custody hearing with her ex-husband, according to police.

Authorities have been piecing together the last hours of Savannah Kriger, 32, and her son Kaiden, who were found dead on March 19 from gunshot wounds to the head in a San Antonio park. The investigation into the murder-suicide has taken weeks.

Authorities have concluded that in the hours preceding the killings, Kriger destroyed her ex-husband’s house, shot at her old wedding pictures, and threatened him with several SMS and FaceTime videos that said, “You won’t have anything at all by the end of the day.”

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Kriger’s gruesome ordeal began when she left work on March 18 in the afternoon and went straight to her ex’s house while he was at work.

The mother traveled to her own house, where police subsequently discovered her wedding dress and photographs spread out on the bed, after causing damage to the ex’s furnishings and a few personal belongings.

“We believe that she fired two shots into her wedding portraits,” Sheriff Javier Salazar stated.

After picking up her son from daycare, Kriger began bombarding Kaiden’s father with the terrifying messages, according to the authorities.

During a FaceTime call, Kriger stated that, “You don’t have anything to go home to now. You really don’t. You won’t have anything at all at the end of the day.”

“Say goodbye to your son,” was the last message she sent to her ex.

Kriger and her son were seen in a 21-second video that was recovered from her phone sitting in the park ditch where their remains were eventually found.

According to investigators, the mother in the video told her son to “say goodbye to Daddy” before kissing him and apologizing because his father wasn’t present.

According to investigators, her phone records indicate that she searched for kid-friendly cartoon films on her phone while the vehicles were still parked in the ditch.

The fatal killings were not captured on camera, but the sheriff claimed that Kriger’s motivations were “pretty clear.”

After authorities searched the region and issued an Amber Alert, their remains were found some 19 hours later. The two fatalities were promptly classified as murder-suicides by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The little child was the focus of a custody dispute, according to information provided by the authorities at the time.

On March 7, according to MySA, Kriger filed for divorce and a temporary restraining order against her ex. On March 19, the day the deaths were found, the ex-couple was scheduled to appear in court for a custody hearing.
