After being hospitalized due to a vicious attack by a man riding a bicycle, a woman from Michigan claims she is terrified. According to police, the attack was totally arbitrary.
Morgan Catton, 27, was on her way to a friend’s house in Detroit last Friday when she unintentionally had her Uber drop her off at the wrong place at around 10:20 p.m.
She chose to walk the remaining distance because she was only a few blocks away and felt that it wouldn’t be a huge bother.
It was then when a man on a bicycle attacked her. Catton stepped aside to give way to the man as he approached her on the sidewalk, but he halted.
“When he got close to me, he got off his bike, looked at me, grabbed me by the neck and threw me to the ground, where he repeatedly punched me in the face,” Catton stated. “It happened so quickly. There was no time to react. I didn’t even get my hands on him at all.”
The attack, which the authorities claim was totally random, left Catton in the hospital with sutures around her mouth and eye. The 27-year-old, however, claims she is content just to be alive.
“I thought I was going to die,” she stated. “It felt like he had done that before.”
The assailant was described as a man who rode a dark blue or gray bicycle, appeared to be in his 40s, and stood around 5 feet 8 inches tall. After the attack, he rode off on the same bike.
Catton claims the experience has scarred her. Her goal is to remind women to carry some form of protection and to travel alone at night using the buddy system. Her goal is to raise awareness of these attacks so that no one else gets harmed.

She also wants the authorities to apprehend her assailant.
“I have a sick feeling in my stomach that if they don’t find him, this will be something he does again,” she stated.
The event is still being looked into by the police. A GoFundMe has been established to assist Catton with his costs. Her injuries have kept her from working, and she is uninsured.
