The victims of two separate shootings that took place on Sunday evening presented themselves to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, which prompted the Tallahassee Police Department to launch an investigation into the shootings.
After it was reported that an adult man and adult female had arrived at a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, the TPD responded to the hospital.
The victims stated that shots were fired at their vehicle while they were still inside it in a residential area close to Capital Circle NE and Miccosukee Road in the northern part of the city of Tallahassee. The victims were responsible for their own transportation to the medical facility.
Two hours earlier, at approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to HCA Florida Southwood Emergency on Capital Circle SE after a teenager presented himself there with a hip gunshot wound that was not considered to be life-threatening.
The adolescent informed the authorities that the gunshot took place earlier in the 3100 block of Dunkeld Court in the neighborhood.
The purported crime scene was subsequently inspected by the police, but no evidence could be found there. According to the statement that was released by the TPD, the circumstances surrounding the incident are not apparent.
Investigations into both shooting events are still ongoing at this time.
According to research conducted by the Tallahassee Democrat, there have been at least 31 shooting events that have resulted in the injury or death of at least three individuals in Tallahassee and Leon County so far in 2018.
