Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio –  Sales for adult-use recreational marijuana in Ohio have surpassed all expectations after only one week of sales, even for some out-of-state shops.

More than $11 million worth of recreational marijuana—more than 1,200 pounds—was sold in the first week of sales, according to the Ohio Division of Cannabis.

According to Headset Data, which compiles information from various cannabis retailers around the nation, sales of medical and recreational cannabis in the state increased by more than 270% in a single day, with businesses reporting an average of $12,000 to over $34,000 in sales between August 5 and 6.

The positive reception that recreational cannabis sales have received in Ohio has been overwhelming, and we couldn’t be happier. We have witnessed an initial income surge of at least three times previous sales and in some instances much higher multipliers since we transitioned the first four of our stores.

Kathleen Olivastro, senior vice president of retail from multi-dispensary operator Ascend Wellness Holdings, expressed her delight about the current momentum and its potential to grow as the company serves its clients.

According to Steven Delich, a regional vice president of retail for Curaleaf, the figures reflect their experiences. Curaleaf has dispensaries in Cuyahoga Falls and Newark.

That is in keeping with Newark. Approximately 67% of purchases in that area are for adult usage, according to Delich. In Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, however, medical traffic is rather heavier.

Their Cuyahoga Falls facility began selling adult-use recreational marijuana on August 7, one day after many other stores in the state began sales, which is why their stats differ from others.

Our first day of sales blew away projections, and that trend has carried over into the rest of the first week. Delich reported that first-day net sales and foot traffic virtually increased compared to their daily average.
