Pedestrian Killed in Double Hit-and-Run Accident in Palm Beach County

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said Tuesday morning that they are looking for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian near South Bay in northern Palm Beach County and then drove away.

Lt. Indiana Miranda, a spokesman for the FHP, said in a news release that at 8:23 a.m., an unknown vehicle was driving south on State Road 25 in the outside lane near mile marker 68.

A person was walking or standing on the paved shoulder next to the road. Miranda said that the driver did not stay in the outside travel lane and went into the outside shoulder for reasons that are still being looked into.

The front of the car hit the man, who was thrown forward and landed on the paved shoulder to the south. The person landed on the outside shoulder, where they were hit by the car again.

Miranda said that the car drove back onto the outside travel lane and kept going south on the highway.

On the spot, the man was said to be dead.

At the time, all lanes going south and north were closed while the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office looked into what happened.
