A man from Pensacola, charged with attempted murder for reportedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend, is scheduled for trial this week.

Patrick Henderson, 43, was taken into custody by Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies on April 3. It is alleged that he stabbed his ex-girlfriend, with whom he had been in a relationship for 13 years, in the arm and head during an argument.

Upon arriving at the scene, the deputy noted that the victim was “bleeding profusely from stab wounds.” She informed the deputies that the argument started after Henderson allowed one of his friends into the house.

“She said that she told Henderson that she did not want his friends in the house because they are constantly smoking ‘dope’ in the house and she does not want to be around that,” Henderson’s arrest report stated. “She said at which point, Henderson grabbed a knife, began swinging it while saying to her ‘I’m going to kill you.'”

The report mentions that the victim’s memory goes blank after the stabbing incident. Despite this, she was able to ride her bicycle to a nearby convenience store to contact the police.

Henderson is set to go on trial this Thursday and could potentially receive a 15-year prison sentence if found guilty of attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend.
