WPBN: After a single ticket sold in New York matched all six winning numbers on Saturday, the ninth Powerball jackpot of the year was won.
The winning ticket featured the numbers 1, 31, 43, 55, 57, and Powerball 22. It was the 13th winning ticket in the state overall and the first Powerball jackpot won in New York since 2020, according to Powerball.
An annuitized prize of $256 million or a lump sum payout of $123.5 million will be available to the fortunate ticket holder. The two prize options are pre-tax.
568,978 tickets nationwide won prizes in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, including 12 tickets that matched the red Powerball with four of the five white balls to win $50,000.

In Oregon, a man with cancer received the biggest prize, which was $1.326 billion. He assured reporters that he would give his wife and a friend a portion of the money.
According to game officials, Powerball has only ever had nine jackpots in a single year, which was in 2018.
Powerball draws take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET, and tickets cost $2 each. A huge $619 million Mega Millions prize is presently in the works, but the game’s jackpot will now reset to $20 million. Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET is when the next drawing for that game will take place.
