Pregnant Woman Among Three Victims Injured in Jacksonville Shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On Monday night, a shooting occurred in Northwest Jacksonville, resulting in injuries to three individuals, one of whom was a pregnant woman.

The incident took place at a residence on Friden Drive near Ken Knight Drive, where five people were present at the time.

According to a victim who spoke to News4JAX on Tuesday, the shooting originated from a dispute between the alleged shooter, his pregnant ex-girlfriend, and her current boyfriend.

Edward Thompson, a 70-year-old man, was one of the injured parties, sustaining a gunshot wound to his jaw.

Thompson stated that the second victim was struck by gunfire three times and is currently fighting for their life in the hospital. The pregnant woman, who was also transported to the hospital, suffered a gunshot wound to her stomach. The condition of both the woman and her baby is unknown at this time.

Thompson and other witnesses informed News4JAX that the ex-boyfriend, after leaving the house following the altercation, began firing shots through the window.

Thompson expressed surprise, as nobody inside the house expected such an outbreak of violence.

“We were just standing here talking, and all of a sudden, five shots rang through the kitchen window,” he recalled. “The first one hit me. The second one and the third one hit his girlfriend and Charles. This whole place was full of blood.”

Doctors informed Thompson that he was fortunate to have survived the ordeal.

Currently, there is no information available regarding whether the authorities have apprehended the shooter.
