HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A tragic incident occurred in Tampa on the Fourth of July, where a 7-year-old child lost their life due to a shooting. The incident took place in the evening on Courtney Campbell Causeway, while fireworks were being set off.
The shooting was a result of an argument between two groups of people, according to the officers’ statements. Tragically, the young child was shot in the head and was immediately rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, they could not be saved and were pronounced dead.
Another person was also injured in the shooting, being shot in the hand. Thankfully, their injuries are not life-threatening, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw expressed his condolences to the family of the innocent child and assured that the detectives would put in all their efforts to identify and apprehend all those involved in the incident.
As the investigation continues, witnesses are being interviewed at the active crime scene on Tuesday night.
