A teenager from Canton and his stepmother have been arrested and accused of breaking into 26 cars. The arrest took place after the police discovered them inside a car covered in blood, with multiple stolen items in plain sight.
The Canton police received reports of car break-ins in the Cherokee Overlook subdivision and the Laurels of Greenwood Apartments shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Upon investigation, the police found blood inside several of the vehicles. A witness reported seeing a red car leaving the area when a car alarm was triggered.
At approximately 2 p.m., the police received further reports that a teenager and a woman were unconscious inside a red car in the parking lot of a Walmart on Riverstone Parkway.
Upon approaching the car, the police observed blood and numerous items inside.
The woman, identified as Brianna Rogers from Canton, and her stepson, whose identity remains undisclosed, were detained at the scene. Rogers received medical treatment from EMS for a cut on her hand. During the arrest, it was discovered that the teenager was carrying a firearm.
The reason for their unconscious state in the car remains unclear.
Both individuals were taken into custody and charged with 26 counts of felony entering auto, along with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
