Atlanta Shooting Update 18-Year-Old Faces Multiple Charges

According to a warrant issued by Fulton County courts, an 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in southwest Atlanta that resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the injury of another in June.

The warrant claims that Shoun Nai Gene Bilal shot and killed 22-year-old Deonta Brown and 15-year-old Mario Favors on June 20.

Bilal now faces charges including aggravated assault, murder, and other offenses related to the use of a sawed-off firearm, as stated by the Fulton County Magistrate Court.

The Atlanta Police Department officers, who responded to the incident, believe it was a targeted attack; however, they have not provided any updates on the circumstances leading to the shooting.

The shooting took place at 765 McDaniel St. SW on June 20, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and one person being injured, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

The address is in close proximity to Heritage Station Senior, a senior housing community located off Stephens Street and not far from Gideons Elementary School.

A resident of the Heritage Station apartment complex shared a letter that was sent to the community following the incident.

The letter, sent by the property management company, stated that the shots were fired outside of Building 2, on the corner of Rockwell and Coleman Streets, south of the parking deck.

The apartment complex reported that the incident was captured on video surveillance, which showed a young man approaching from the south side of the building and shooting at three individuals who were sitting on the steps eating chips.

According to the complex, none of the individuals targeted were residents of the apartment complex. Detectives discovered shell casings at the scene and are currently working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 404-577-TIPS(8477) or the Atlanta Police Department at (404) 546-4236. Callers have the option to remain anonymous.
