BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – Two adults have been taken into custody by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of abusing and neglecting their 6-month-old baby.
The infant was brought to Wolfson Children’s Hospital after the arrests of Andrea Southard, 22, and Donald Holland, 23, who were both charged with child endangerment.
Initially, the investigators were under the impression that the infant had a broken arm. They found out later that the boy had suffered a total of six fractured bones in his upper and lower limbs as a result of the accident.
It was assumed that several of the injuries had happened many weeks or months earlier but had not been addressed at the time.
The couple was accused of verbally abusing the newborn whenever he cried and physically unacceptably abusing their kid, according to the statements of witnesses who assisted in the investigation.
Southard and Hollard are facing two charges each of aggravated child abuse and child neglect for their alleged involvement in the case.
