South Carolina Man Scores $500K on Lottery Ticket, Plans Dream Purchase

WPBN: One man from South Carolina is determined to buy a new home with the money he recently won from the lotto.

At the Broad River Mart in Columbia, a guy from Midlands, South Carolina, purchased a $10 Shimmering Riches ticket from the South Carolina Education Lottery. Officials from the lottery stated on November 20 that S.C.

He didn’t anticipate winning half a million dollars when he scratched out his ticket, though.

After cashing in the large win, he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials, “When I look at my bank account, I can’t believe it.”

The fortunate winner informed the officials that he would utilize his money to go house hunting: “I’m trying to find a house.”

According to The State, South Carolina is one of several states that permit lottery winners to stay nameless, thus the winner will stay anonymous.

If they win the lottery, residents of Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia can also choose to stay anonymous.

After the man’s victory, the Shimmering Riches game has three top prizes totaling $500,000. There is a one in 1,128,000 chance of winning.

Additionally, Columbia’s Broad River Mart was paid $5,000 in commission for the sale of the disputed ticket.
