The Middletown Target has been “coming soon” for more than a year. That was the first time the big-box retailer revealed plans to open a store in Middletown, Delaware’s fastest-growing neighborhood, on Middletown Warwick Road in a brand-new shopping center on the city’s north side.

Among the numerous stores that would open soon was a Target on Middletown-Warwick Road, according to the company’s website in early 2023.

Middletown’s prospective clients have been wondering, “How soon is soon?” for an equal amount of time. Fortunately, we now have a response. Officials from Target have confirmed that the Middletown location plans to open on October 13.

Target spokeswoman Loni Monroe stated, “We’re excited to bring an easy, affordable, and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the Middletown community with this new Target store.” Situated at 361 Middletown Warwick Road, the shop will occupy an area of roughly 148,000 square feet.

The date may alter based on development or other factors, representatives warn. At its planned Middletown site, the shop is hiring for a variety of positions.

Additionally, as they have stated for the previous year, Target representatives indicate that as the store’s debut draws closer, they will be able to provide additional information, such as “how the shopping experience will be tailored to serve local guests.”

Developers Lee and Louis Ramunno’s new retail project, Northside Shopping Center, will have the store as its anchor. Next door is slated to be a Sprouts food store. The shopping center’s advertising materials feature projections of both PetSmart and Hobby Lobby.

What location are the Delaware Target stores?

If constructed, it would be the sixth Target in Delaware, joining those on Route 13 in Dover, the Christiana Mall, the Prices Corner shopping mall, and Brandywine Town mall off Concord Pike.
